What kind of Blog is this?

I decided to combine two activities, getting in shape on the elliptical machine (hence the title of the blog) and watching movies on my tablet device. What a perfect world! I am a really big fan of the movies and love all genres. You will see discussions on Sci-Fi, Horror, Historical, Romance, Comedy, Drama, Classics, and so on. Watching a movie instantly makes the hour spent working out simply fly by! I have decided to watch movies that I am interested in and then discuss how I enjoyed the movie. Hard to really call it a review seeing that most of the movies have already been released nationally. I will rate each on a scale of 1 to 10 (ten being the best). Most of the movies that I discuss will be movies that appear on Cable TV. So if you were hesitant about watching a particular movie, you can utilize my commentary before you sit down and watch.

Sanctum

Today is my first entry on my new blog!  So here goes....

Sanctum is a adventure movie that takes place in the hollows of a very large cave.  The cast is relatively small, consisting of the wealthy entrepreneur (who is financing the exploration of the unknown cave), his girlfriend, the dynamic cave expert and his staff, and the expert's son, who is stuck with his dad for a couple of months.  There are a couple of extras including the typical "stick with the leader through thick and thin" because he really is a good guy.

A storm is coming and communication topside has gone haywire because this giant storm has arrived ahead of schedule.  The only way out has flooded, so it is up to the fearless expert, the man with the most experience to guide his group out of danger and harms way, because ultimately the cave will flood.

Will they survive the cave, or more importantly will they survive each other? There are numerous challenges that lay before the group as they try to make their way through the vast tunnels and swim mini lagoons.  The one relationship that is truly tested is that of the father and son, and it is the one relationship the defines the movie.

The true star of the movie is the scenery, and you can thank James Cameron for financing that, it was filmed in Australia and it is very beautiful.  I do recommend the movie, especially if you are a fan of survival/action genre.

I give it a 7 out of 10.

Next up is "The King's Speech."
